Games are wonderful and interesting. Games can be used for a lot of things, to challenge ourselves, to grow intellectually, to tell captivating stories and much more. Games and gamification elements have entered our daily lives everywhere.

There's an interesting sub-topic of games, video games. Video games and their design is what I want to focus on in this blog.

I'm not interested in the latest meaningless trends and hypes, but rather meaningful experiences and what makes great digital experiences.

Games are a unique medium, and a valuable one. The potential of gamification is great.

Games can be a great tool for a lot of things, and they can serve very different purposes. There are party games, language learning games, story games, and much more. These can help us socialise in a fun way, acquire new languages, or expand our mental horizon.

Such games that create a change within, e.g. making you learn something, are called serious game, or transformative games.
